About This Blog

This blog was initially intended for my full-time mission before I knew I would be getting married. Now I'm a more determined member missionary or witness for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Please share your thoughts with kindess and respect. I would also appreciate reading your own testimonies if you would like to share them.

Post 1

I am still over a year away from serving a mission, but I am still on the track that I am pretty sure I will serve a full-time mission.

I thought I would begin recording now, just because it is neat to see background stories BEFORE an event.

Well, I'm not even 20 yet. I have been planning on this since I was 4. Both my parents served missions, 7 of my older siblings served, many of my friends are currently serving, and I have grown up around many women who have served missions.

I have been trying to prepare since I was probably 13 - little by little. When I was younger, my uncle was serving in South Africa and I had no clue what a mission was; I thought it was teaching animals how to talk. And I was told when I was 4 I would be a good sister missionary because I loved to wear dresses - funny. When I was in third grade, I sure didn't know because I thought I was supposed to keep everything a secret. I tried to be better about sharing the truth I knew. In High School I gave out some materials, and I spent time working with the sisters and elders who served in my area. As a Freshman - all I could think about was mission mission mission. I would volunteer four hours a week at the MTC - I learned SOOO much. It was beautiful and I love the MTC. I wish I could work there.

It was important to me that I learned how to be a better member missionary, because that is what we promise at baptism - sharing the Gospel is a lifelong goal, not just a specific portion of your life. I know I've already started my mission trying to bear testimony to non-members as well as members. I really want people to know that they can be happier and I want then to know who they are. The Gospel is what makes life beautiful.

I guess that's it for now. :]
